after many years of this project always getting put off till "next year"...I finally tackled it ...
this is what I had..it needed a desperate update and more function ability for me to access the hens..
during the week I installed a small shed window for added light and ventilation ..found the window on amazon for $24.00
so after locking the hens up we dismantled the previous outdoor area and started to break up the ground...then dug holes to set poles...
put all the poles in and secured them...now onto running the chain link fencing
we put the 1st section of chain link up
then the second section and the gate we already had......I then finished working the ground to get it ready for some sod.... after cleaning the soil I added top soil 1st then laid the sod...
once I laid the sod we let the hens out and they had a blast from just resting on it to pecking some to eat...one hen actually started to roll on it like a dog....
while I was laying the sod,my boyfriend started to make the new door into the coop area...simple 1"x 2" strips of wood with lattice...a couple of hinges,a handle and a hook to keep closed at night....
put my scarecrow back, have a few chicken themed signs coming from amazon...
we also will be adding a shed vent/skylight also got from amazon for $24.00 and removing the tarp and laying proper roofing....
found these 4 melemene plates over a year ago to decorate outside of the coop....finally was able to put it up...also made a window box from scrap wood laying about
