Hi. If the rust is the bath tub itself, it's time to refinish. There are great DIY kits at your local hardware or big box stores. If it's in the water, a whole house water-softener system will fix that.

  With 20 years in the business, a softener MAY remove the iron. Depends on type, feric or ferrus, and total amount. A dealer could do the testing to determine that.

Do not use anything abrasive! Try CLR for rust.
