How to paint fabric furniture?

I used just regular latex paint to do some cushions for a banquette. I have used chalk paint too, but there's the extra cost and extra step of waxing. The results were nearly the same. With latex, I used 2 parts paint, 2 parts fabric softener and 1 part water. Heavily dampen the fabric by spraying with a solution of equal parts water and fabric softener on the first coat. I sanded it lightly after the last coat and did a few touch ups. Make sure you let it dry for at least 24 hrs between coats.
