This project began with a walk in the neighborhood. I love finding things on trash day I can turn into something else.
When I spied this rusty barbecue grate on the top of someone's trash can I carried it with me back to my house. I knew right away what I was going to do with it and I couldn't wait to start!
The first thing I did when I got home was to paint the grate with orange chalky paint. It took only one quick coat to give it the look I wanted. You can use any kind of paint on this project including orange spray paint. Love white pumpkins? Just give it a quick coat of white instead.
I added a couple of faux fall leaves from the craft store and I had myself the perfect repurposed pumpkin. A great grate pumpkin to be sure!
At this time of year I am looking at everything with a "pumpkin" eye. Can I repurpose it to look like a pumpkin? Well this fun find sure was perfect for my fall decorating. It is amazing what a coat of orange will do this time of year!
