Dampen the rust stains with water. Spread a layer of baking soda over them. Wet a soft nylon brush with water and scrub the baking soda gently into the rust stains. I soak our toilet all night or all day (if everyone will be gone) by pouring in white vinegar. I use at least 2 cups, then I scrub it. You can repeat it if needed, or use Mr. Clean magic toilet scrubber on the rest to take out any remaining slight rings. The vinegar will do most the work for you with a scrub brush it comes off easily. I use Mr Clean magic wand toilet scrubber for when it has been a week or more since I removed the hard water rings.

Flush the toilet and then pour a quarter cup of Borax into it. Use your toilet brush to swish it around. Next, add one to two cups of vinegar and let the mixture sit for 30 minutes. You should be able to scrub the stains away!
