How do I put together a shutter armoire ?

A friend of mine gave me some shutters and I refinish them and would like to make two armoires but I'm not sure if I should put the top and the bottom with the shutters on the side of the wood or on the top and the bottom of the wood if that makes any sense

Babs, Are you asking if you should put the shutters on the sides of the armoire and keep,them stationary or to use them as doors on the front of the armoire?

  I would like to use to shutters for the side unit and two smaller shutters for the front doors and a solid piece in the back. But I'm not sure how to put the top and the bottom solid pieces on. Do I put the solid top and bottom pieces on top of the shutters or attach the shutters to the side of the top and bottom solid pieces. I hope I'm explaining this right
