Need to have your foundation inspected by a specialist. Have to stop the cracking.

That's a tough one, Teri. The shifting may continue & the cracks reappear in the repaired tile. Here's what I did to solve the problem I had. I broke out the old tile & before replacing it, I put fiberglass drywall web tape both along & across the crack. this won't stop the shifting but it will help prevent the new tile from cracking. I had to chip out the old tile & mastic with a power tool until the surface was smooth & could accept the self adhesive web tape (@2.5 in wide). I mixed fresh mastic & troweled it onto the back of the tile with a notched trowel. Then I placed & leveled the new tile. After the mastic cured, I mixed some grout & pushed it into the grout line around the new tile. Wiped it clean of residue with a wet sponge very gently. Lots of hands & knees type work.

Too much work? Try this. If the crack hasn't gotten bigger in a while, mix some non-sanded grout of a color that's close to the tile color. With a plastic squeegee, push the grout into the crack & gently wipe the surface clean with a sponge. After curing, touchup the crack with acrylic paint colors. Thin them a little so you don't have a "proud" layer of paint but a slightly recessed line with color in it. A good, tiny, pointed brush, some water & a palette to mix on will be good kit.

My solution worked even in a high traffic area. If you didn't know it was there, you could never tell there was ever a crack. I've touched up cracks in marble, Bowmanite, hand-painted floor tiles from sunny Mexico & porcelain floor tiles from the home store. Let us know how you do. Best to you! :-)
