...Get this ugly tile floor to look good? Despite it being clean, it never LOOKS clean. We rent this house (for 8 yrs now), so we can't replace it. Same tile in bathroom and front foyer...yuck.

    Try Mop and Glo.

If it's dirt in the crevices that you can't get out, try scrubbing your floor with a Mr. Clean magic eraser.

they make a magic eraser mop now, cleans great

or you could put down an area rug + runner. had to do this my current rental, also gives kitchen a bit of color

or ask landlord for a change nd offer to split cost , worth a try

That tile is an older style of tile which was used a lot in commercial applications. It has a dull finish and shows every scuff mark. I would first clean it with a degreaser (you could try vinegar and water, Dawn and water, Pine Sol, Simple Green) to get it clean and then a floor wax (Mop and Glo) to make it shine. We had that tile in a basement room in a rental so I have been there, done that. Good luck!

I have this tile in my basement. It has a finish on it so I bought floor stripper from Lowe’s and then repolished it.

Just as a suggestion, area rugs cover a multitude of ugly.

This floor can be painted then stenciled. They make stencils in tile sizes that when you're finished look like decorative tiles. Then seal the floor.
