Start by washing them with Murphy's Oil Soap, let dry completely. Wash the hardware in Lestiol, after the doors are off. Lay the doors flat to paint, to avoid streaking and peeling. You can roll the doors and if you need to cut in use a brush. I highly recommend a high gloss paint, 2 coats. This paint is very easy to clean. Use a dish rag or sponge, then rinse off the soap. Buy Murphy's Oil Soap in the supermarket, the isle with floor cleaners. You can spray paint the hardware, or buy all new, but it gets pricy. Aloha!
