I found this chair beside the road. I grabbed it up and started planning my makeover
It had plastic panels in six places. My plan was to make them look like copper.
I started by giving it a light sand. Then I painted a primer in white.
Next I painted it light blue. My intention was to do a crackle finish.
I painted a crackle compound all over and let It dry thoroughly pet the directions.
Then I painted a dark blue to make it crackle. The results were less then perfect.
Parts were lovely but it didn't crackle all over. Next I applied a dark antique wax.
Finally I tried to apply a copper foil to the plastic windows. I didn't like the results so I painted them copper
The final product was great after much work.
Suggested materials:
  • Chair was free
  • All paints were in my supply
  • Crackling compound   (Michael's $5.00)

Thanks for the encouragement. Have you done crackle? I need some tips

No, I have never done crackle finish but other Hometalkers have.
