Eliminate the coffee table and it will open up the room. Or can you use the trunk as a table instead?

    Hello Susan,

Plain light walls. keep furniture light in colour or cover in a cloth. Try to make your furniture blend in with the walls or use the colour of the walls for Curtains and cushions and accessories......A Photo or size of the room might be a good idea. To plan the layout of your furniture. Take the measurements and transfer them into a plan of the room, say (1" for a foot) Then measure your furniture and cut out the shape using the same scale. Cut out furniture and label up. You can then arrange furniture to your heart's content on the plan of your room - don't forget to put in windows, doors and chimney breast if appropriate. Have fun..................

Always adding a big Mirror also does miracles in making the room look bigger, works every time!

You are most welcome! I too struggle with a small living room which is shaped in an awkward way & I needed my furniture to stay as well. So I added a large rectangular mirror to a wall that I knew would help, Wow & did it ever!! I have two nice big windows at one end of the room & at the other end is my entranceway with my furniture in the middle. It's a long living room but not very wide so I needed to be creative in the placement of my beachy themed knickknacks too, I am sure you can relate to this as well Susan....too much & it looks junky so my knickknacks & I walked a fine line, lol. The mirror was the finishing touch, it made the world of difference & if you happen to have a window on a wall where you could place a big mirror on the opposite wall, that is even better, if you do not only are you lucky but when you see how much it helps you will be amazed!!

      Good Luck Susan

      Sincerely,

      ~Kim
