Some people use portable closets, armoire's, and clothing racks. The clothing racks are more open and may require a sheet put over them if put in storage. Another idea would be to use clothing racks against the wall and mount a curtain rod to the ceiling and hang curtains or sheets from that rod in front of the racks.
I purchased a frame with plastic covering that zipped closed at a salvage type store for very little. It had to be assembled but I was able to do it myself. It had rollers so worked really well for storage in basement. It had heavy cardboard for flooring and a rod for hanging.
You can make your own pvc pipe clothes rack. Do a search for DIYpvcpipeclothesracks.
In my daughters apt we attached a curtain track to the ceiling and used a floor to ceiling curtain to close off the end of the room. We hung a closet pole and on wall and she already had some organizers that she added, but you could also hand shelves. She has a lot of stuff. If you don't you could use a nice armoire like they did in pre-closet days or if you are handy and own the house you could build in a closet.
Hi Dana. I'm Cindy. My closet space is small and I have to share it with my husband. I use the zippered bags that comforters come in. I have 2 bags that I rotate seasonal clothes with. I put a couple drier sheets in them too. I got the idea from the space bags I saw on TV. I store them on a shelf in the garage. The bags keep my clothes clean and fresh. I hope this helps you. Good luck Dana.
The covered wardrobes which roll and have zippers work really well for hanging clothes. You can get them at Walmart or Target, Amazon online. You can buy vacuum storage bags in which you can store seasonal clothes and they will fit under your bed. You can find those at Walmart as well. Over-the-door shoe storage (also at Walmart). Maybe it's time for a trip to Walmart lol. Best wishes.
Hi Dana. I used two small tower bookcases, both 72 inches tall, then between them I added two closet poles for hanging garments. The shelves are a perfect size for folded tops and bottoms. Works great and doesn't take much space.
But a metal shelf unit. You will be amazed at how much they can hold !!! You can stack a ton of jeans or t shirts in there . I did this year's ago when I rented an old apt. That didn't have bedroom closets in the kids room. I also put some bins on one of the shelves, one for socks , one for underware, one for pj's. To cover it i used a printed sheet and used magnets , which stuck to the metal ! And now many years later, no kids at home , I do this inside my closet !!! Haven't found a better way to store clothes.
