What is the best way to seal moisture out of concrete?

I am redoing the basin walls of our foundation which are in dire need or new mortar. It is 21 inches thick and made with field stone. I was looking at all these different products that are supposed to seal out moisture from the inside and outside. What is everyone's take on this? Some people think its a waste of time, I just want to do it correctly.

I used them interchangeably. It is a field stone with mortor mixture measuring 7.5 ft tall and 21 inches thick. I am located in western new york. The house was previously an 1890's school house. All the stone is of local origins. Thanks

talk to your local paint store to see what they recommend for your area.

Local paint stores don't seem to carry products like these most of the ones I have found are sold online. Some of the crews around here use the products, others use rubber or tar especially when trying to waterproof from the exterior. Others use plastic sheeting and concrete bolts to anchor them. Thanks
