How do I permanently get pet urine smell out of carpet?

I have a dog who keeps peeing on our carpets. I shampooed them several times with several different carpet shampoos and used deoderizers but I am pretty sure it is clear through the padding.

I really don't have it in my budget to get new carpet.

They make enzyme cleaners , that's a cleaner the " eats " natural substances like urine , feces , blood , vomit ... You can find this at most let stores ! You need to pull back the carpet and spray the padding and floor , if you think the urine has gone through ..and let them dry out aFter being treated . Unless you have an extremely old dog or the dog is ill , you need to teach it to go outside ( or pee pads , for like this idea , only as a last resort ) you need to be consistent and take your dog out at regular times...first thing in am , as soon as you get home from work, if you don't work add lunchtime. Give your dog a great or dog biscuit every time they use the outdoors . They will get the hang of it fast , if you are !!! 4-6 wks , is worth it !!! Good luck!!!!

  • Have your dog checked by the vet on your next check up. Have you found a reason why your dog is doing this? Not getting enough walks? No doggie door to go in and out? Have you tried paddle pads? Did he or she get spooked?

Pour scoopable kitty litter on it and let it sit to absorb the odors. Then vacuum.

Thank you for answering my question. I have not heard of doing this before.

My one cat kept using the same spot of carpet....nothing else worked....the charcoal in the kitty litter completely took the pee smell away. I then used a baking soda based carpet fresh powder and the smell is completely gone.....I sympathize with you since I couldn't buy a new carpet either and still wanted to keep my kitty!
