Fix or cover a cracked ceiling

Old water damage. Water issue was fixed and everything looked fine but ceiling recently began cracking. I’m old, sick & raising a grandchild so no money to fix- it will have to be a DIY project.

Being on a limited income...you may qualify for a government grant to fix the ceiling. It would be worth calling your county extension office to see if help is available
you may need to supply proof of income- call ahead to see what documents you will need.

Sometimes i check Thumbtack ok Takl to see what they charge otherwise check utube or your nearest home improvement store get ideas
Same problem here. I plan to cover ceilings with light-weight ceiling tiles or wood floor planking. Don’t have a big budget either so it depends on what’s cheaper. I have a BIG area to cover! I’ve also thought about making “tiles” out of luan and putting wallpaper on those so they’ll still be even on the ceiling and the cracks can’t come thru.
Contact your local govt to see if there is a program in your area to do jobs like this free for seniors. I'm in a small town/county, so probably would call Habitat for Humanity for leads. This sort of thing is often the project of a religious group. Here, they build wheelchair ramps, insulation, minor roof repair. That sort of thing. Won't hurt to check it out.
