Summer Painting Project #1...Relaxing and ReVaxing!

by Wheelbarrow Cottage
I wanted to share my first summer project with you!! Hopefully the first of many...although, this summer is proving to be almost just as busy as the regular year!
We received this dresser from a good family friend when we first moved into the home we live in now. It was perfect for our dining room as a buffet. We store decorations, place-mats and tablecloths and even some recipes! So useful! But...a tad boring!
So of course I painted it!! I did this about two years ago. It was one of the first major pieces I did and I was pretty proud of it! But, after a couple of years I was ready for a new color. Plus, did you know that wax has to be re-applied every year or so? BOO!!! All those fumes and all of that rubbing, buffing, sweat and...did I mention fumes? And then you have to do it once a year? NO WAY!!!
So, I decided to relax and ReVax!! First I painted it in a Shabby Paints custom recipe - Shabby Sage. Then I put a coat of Shabby Paints Shimmer Glaze Vibrant Gold. That gave it a POP of shimmer! So pretty!! Last, I used a damp sponge to wipe on Hazelnut ReVax. ReVax is a varnish that gives the finish of wax. It is just brushed or wiped on and...BOOM! Done! No rubbing, no buffing, no sweat! It doesn't have to be reapplied. And...best of all...I did this all inside with no mask. All of Shabby Paints products are NO VOC (yucky fumes) and non-toxic!
I love it! It gives my room such a fresh new look! I still keep the same stuff inside...but the outside is all new!

Stay tuned, summer project #2 will be coming up soon! Bunk beds for my girls' room!! Can't wait for it to be done!
