    Hi Laurinda,

You have a true infestation and there are 2 ways to handle this problem, as i see it.

From your picture, it is difficult to see how far up the roof is from the ground and if my first suggestion is a viable one.

When it is dusk spray with with a wasp killing product that will go a good distance, giving space between them and you. Wear protective clothing. You may have to do this several times to get the population gone. Then when no more activity, seal up where they have been going in and out.

Hire an exterminator, they will kill them and follow through with subsequent visits to make sure their job was successful.

WD40. Spray the eaves. My husband was not a believer till he tried. They can't get to the nest and the nest does also.

This link will give some info. They may not be bothering you as in stinging, but these have moved into your home; walls, attic, etc. They also make their next out of WOOD that they chew up to create the usual paper looking nest. They will spread through out the house in time. The rest of nest dies out but queen lives on inside during winter.

We have sprayed several years ago after I got stung three different times while sleeping. We then decided to see how they were getting in the house . My husband sprayed from the outside while I had spray on the inside. When he started spraying about 50 red wasps started dropping from the vent. I managed to get them all killer but I don’t know if I can do that again. Whoever said buying an old house would be great must of never seen my old house.

Susan Patterson had an articial on-line. 8 Genius way to get rid of Wasp & Keep Them Away. I couldn't beleive it really worked. Plain soap and water in a hose sprayer or spray bottle. The soapworks to clog their breathing spores and they die almost instantly. It works on flys too. Add 2 tbls of dish soap to a spray bottle. Give it a try the price is right and it's safe around the family pets. Good luck and be safe.

OMG! Get a professional to kills these beasts. I use a spray on the nests at dusk but I think you have far too many there and may well get badly stung.

Place a ladder near the nest.

Take a shop vac and tape the hose to the ladder so the very end is very close to the entrance for the nest.

Put a bit of soapy water in the shop vac.

Turn on shop vac and let it run for a few hours.

Ive done this a few times and it works amazingly well.
