Has anyone updated loveseats by removing the skirt and slipcovering.

I've had a pair of these loveseats for about 20 years! I guess I would like a more neutral pallet in my room. I'm tired of the red, green, tan. I also think the skirt around the bottom is outdated... Help please!
Hi Granny. I'm Cindy. I think you could get the most effective change by using slip covers. They come in a lot of colors. A few throw pillows would finish it off. You could also remove the skirting and change the legs. I've always used the big part of my budget to buy a neutral color sofa, and bring color and patterns to the look with pillows, rugs and art. That way, if you ever want to change things up, all you would have to do is change the pillows, rugs, and art. I hope this helps you Granny. Good luck.

I took a loveseat like this and stripped it to the frame,
saving cushions. I took boards and laid from side to side to create seat base n back. I was going to use pallet wood but it was easier to get a sheet of plywood board and cut the 2 pieces to fit. Painted the frame when done, kept cushions and recovered for seating , then off to thrift stores, found larger pillows for the back, I could have used material and the leftover stuffing from couch, it was funny cause I had it outside after paint dried n was putting cushions on it and a neighbor offered me $75. Like she said, all she has to do is change cushion covers and she'll have a new couch everytime. You can do this to any couch, chair, loveseat, even for outside of prepped properly. Makes a cute daybed too. Use twin mattress n tons of pillows.
No pix cause I sold it to my neighbor 2 days after I finished it. Happens alot, I'll fix n sell online too. Think of a wood futon frame, you can reinforce your stripped couch frame and adding cushion ( recovered). Or get new. I've seen where people cut off the back, filled with pillows and put under windows as a windowseat.
I've been considering a slipcover for awhile too. Lots of examples done with canvas drop cloths. Probably because fabric is so expensive and you will need a lot! Harbor Freight has them in a plain beige. And the skirt is coming back! I have seen plenty in the furniture stores lately.
