How can overcome sadness I feel entering a ugly bathroom?

This bathroom is YUCKY, its been abused over the years and I can't stand to go in or look in. I'm embarrassed, and don't want anyone to see it. When my father was ill he used this restroom and since he passed away I don't want to go in or have anyone see it. If I have to share a picture I would like to share in private. I really enjoy this site and reading all the tips and ideas. Thank you.

Paint, wallpaper and a new mirror and light fixture. That should make you feel better about it.

Hi Patricia. I'm so sorry for your loss. If you have the funds, just hire someone to come in and gut the entire bathroom. Don't be embarrassed. Perhaps a turn with a sledge hammer will do you a bit of good as well. Let go of bad memories and start fresh. Hugs.

Paint works wonders !!!! Paint the whole room , pick a wall for an accent color , make it bright and cheery...Then pick up the accent color in the shower curtain and sink or bath bath. Take a picture with your phone or the beach or a close up of some flowers, have it blown up at a local store and get inexpensive frames to put them in...good luck !

I was faced with the same situation. We redid the flooring, put in a new toilet and vanity, new light fixture and mirror and a little paint. Got a new shower curtain and towels...looks amazing now. The cost was relatively low and the change enormous!!
