I have bookcases and special toys all around the room. To better ultiize the space and to make it more inviting, I want built in bookcases and shelving, plus a window seat. I welcome your ideas.

I have a window seat that has a piano hinge. If I had it to do over it wouldn’t open on top. I would either have drawers or openings with baskets/bins.

I know this is more than a year ago, but take the shorter case on the left and turn it on its side, add support shelf to split it in half = 6 box spaces. Pad the top as a bench seat under the window and us fabric or web baskets in the spaces for small things storage. With the two tall cases on each side it would look built-in. Also add a matching width or wider with trim slab of wood to join the two tall cases together at the top and you have another shelf above. Remember to attach all the shelves to the walls for safety. You can get fancy trim strips at home centers to make built in look.

Call a trim carpenter if you really want a nice finished look. Bigger job than you think. Sounds like a great solution for your space.

Thank you, I had a design specialist come, and never heard anything back... so I'm just going to do it little by little myself. Thank you for your response.

Yes I have seen several people who did ikea and added trim so that it looked custom and built in. Of course I can’t the project right now. 🤦🏽‍♀️

If you can access any of the eve space on the side they make great hide-e-holes for hidden storage.

Yes, Full width shelving both sides of the window with Ottoman Storage seat in between. Left open or built in would both look great! Storage seating would also be good along the other walls.
