The wintertIme temperature in Washington State can steadily be in the teens or even lower. I need the garage to be a multi-purpose space, especially in the winter. The current garage space has finished walls and insulation so it's about ten degrees warmer than outside in the winter. It is a three car garage. The "Single Side" is storage for lawn equipment, electric grill, work bench and tools, and some miscellaneous seasonal storage. The "double space" has a fridge, some free standing shelves with toys, the kitchen things you only use occasionally, and a stair stepper... And yes we can still fit the F150. That said, once the truck is in the garage there is no room! Mainly, during the winter I want to use the space for play area,

Nine year old boy, and be able to easily stow toys away and park in garage, that is a must all year. Dreaming of a Murphy Bed Concept", fold it down and you have race track, nerf target game, mini hoop, small game table with pool/ping-pong, mini trampoline and swing. I know keep dreaming. Oh yes, I want it to be warm enough to play without a winter coat so that requires heating. My grandson has special needs and will only be out there with me and I need some comfort. This is getting out of control! Well, there you have a huge DIY project that needs direction. Help?!

We hung a ceiling heater near the garage door opener so we could use the plug. It really helped

We have a gas water heater in the garage in it's own cabinet with a door. We had a plumber come in and install a natural gas wall heater on the wall which has it's own blower and is thermostatically controlled. He made the connection at the gas supply to the water heater and ran it through the wall. It has it's own pilot light and can be set to whatever temperature is comfortable and comes on and off to maintain that temperature. When you leave the room to go inside you just turn it off. You can buy one that uses propane if you don't have a source of natural gas as well. It keeps our garage toasty warm while we are working on projects. The brand on ours is Pro-Com, but there are many different brands and sizes. We bought ours on FB Marketplace, new but never installed. We love it. The drop down play table you mentioned should be easy to build. I will try to find some plans and come back and post for you. Best wishes.

  • Is there any way you can go up ⬆with storage for seasonal items? They have tons of easy to install options. Would that give you more floor space? I like the idea of the Murphy Bed concept for some of the games. Heating systems for garages is a bit out of my area of expertise as it hardly gets cold (at least to me), here. I sweat when it is 45° - isn't menopause wonderful? If you won't be out there all day, could you pull the truck out for a couple hours at a time and move it back in? Yes, inconvenient, but for the short term, would that work until a better solution is found? What about a shed for miscellaneous items, do you have room for one in your back yard? I get needing to keep the truck in. I have a 2 car garage and at one time had both cars in the garage, but after my mom passed and I cleaned out her house to renovate and rent it out, the "stuff" that I kept had to go somewhere. So half the garage is sloppily piled with items and the "good" car is in the garage and the old car is on the driveway.
