If it's wood, take it off the comode and either strip or sand to repaint/stain/polyurethane,etc.
i would go to big box diy..toilet seats are not pricy...5 to 10 usd. The lid comes with of course.
For heaven's sake! Buy a new one!!!
Go to Walmart, they are so cheap
Well I disagree...having bought several new toilet seats..they are not as sturdy as the old ones. If your old one doesn’t slip and slide like the new ones, which ultimately PINCH YOUR BUTT, I would stay with it. I wish I had. And ours is wooden, but it slides because the screw things dont really hold. The older seat did not do that, and the old one in our other bathroom doesn’t do that. Or am I the ONLY ONE who’s toilet seat wants revenge? Tried different things to make it not do that. So...just saying...if you DO get a new seat, keep the old on hand ..just in case! And our new ones were NOT cheap! Just saying...2 cents worth! 🤪🤪🤪
if it's solid wood, use a good deglosser/liquid sander and paint it ... you can do a design on the lid, ( or not ) https://homeguides.sfgate.com/decorate-toilet-seats-48973.html
