Refinished Bow Front Buffet

This, once beautiful, buffet was part of a hutch that was brought to me by my client to be refinished. She wanted to use the parts separately and decided to use the bottom as a media console (the top is to be repurposed as well!). She knew exactly what she wanted and I was happy to help her vision come to life.
Before- When the hutch was removed the top of the buffet had to be replaced. There was extensive damage to some of the veneer (the bottom was the worst) and it had to be removed. There were also holes cut in the back of the top drawer for plug ins to fit through. One of the pulls was missing on the bottom so the hardware had to be replaced as well.
The new top with one coat of Java Gel from General Finishes and 3 coats of Minwax Polyacrylic in satin. Very pretty!
The color is Virtual Taupe from Sherwin Williams. I then distressed and glazed. The pulls were replaced with these fabulous cup pulls from Hobby Lobby.
After.

I like the color a lot! I also love how you're not shy about using colors that won't be all over the place in 5 years. I am so tired of the famous chalk paint blues and colors. Too over done. Your pieces are just lovely.

I love how the top grain turned out. Nice job on the whole piece, and I love the top! How did you make the grain "pop" out in black. Did you do anything at all, or was it just how the stain saturated the wood? Also, wonderful glazing technique. I love doing it that way, too, although I haven't loaded near as many of my projects as I guess I should have. Very nice!
