I've always seen whitewashed fireplaces, but never had the courage to try it.... til now, and never looking back!
Here's my fireplace before (ignore my future burn papers ;)) I love the rock but I really needed something different in my front room. Ive always loved the finish look of white washed fireplaces, but have always been so scared to try it in case I hated it. I figured why not, lets give it a go!
Here is my little helper helping me wipe down the fire place.
I did 1:1 of white paint I already had and water. I wanted to try to just paint the front of the rock and leave the grout in the back. I painted a few of the rocks and took a step back, and I just was not loving it. Just didn't look finished or neat. So decided here goes nothing, lets do it all.
Finished look after one coat, Didn't want to do a second, cause that would just make it look more like straight paint then white wash. It still gives the different definition of each rock. Took a step back and LOVED IT!
Me and my hunny decided on a dark accent paint color and it really brought everything together. Even got lucky and found these awesome chairs that had the exact teal and tan color in them. Still trying to decide what to hang on the walls, but love how it is looking.
What room isn't complete without curtains to bring it all together. I originally went to Walmart to look at sheets and curtains to see what they had. While walking past the material section this jumped out at me and I fell in love with the material. Only cost about $25, plus another $10 for the sheer curtains in the middle. Quick sewing session and viola. It really completed my room. Even have some extra material I may make a little throw pillow with.
I smile every time I see this room now. Couldn't be happier. Now to just figure out how I'm going to hang my pictures icon
