Best way to refinish my front door that has several coats of differen?

Too much to strip, just sand really good, prime with exterior Oil based primer, then 2 coats of exterior latex paint in any color .

Kelli, is right. Prep is the important thing. If you feel that you could use a wood stripper that would save you a lot of time. A good sand, primer and exterior paint will make all the difference. Good luck.

Sand it and paint it a color that will sand out red, yellow , teal

and color you like

Stripping is ideal but not everyone is up for this daunting task. You need to make sure your surface is as smooth as possible and clean and dry before adding a fresh coat of paint. Normally a good sanding with an electrical sander or sand paper (coarse then fine grit) will do the trick. Most latex paints include primer in their formula, so you can roll or brush the paint right on.

If you want to strip the old paint, Citristrip (available from Walmart and Amazon: https://www.walmart.com/ip/CitriStrip-Safer-Paint-Varnish-Stripping-Gel-Quart/17209362) works really well and is non-toxic and odor free. I used it on an old table with great results. With many coats of paint, I found that applying the Citristrip, then covering it with plastic wrap (get a box for a dollar at the Dollar Store), pressing it into place and leaving it for several hours will loosen the paint and create a kind of goo that's easy to scrape off. It's messy, but works very well. Some spots may need more than one treatment.
