How to mask this spot in kitchen to dinning floor area?

This appeared years ago when carpet was pulled up. It's still a dilemma. Have used a rug for years to cover, I'm tired of it. The floor place wanted $500 to fill in wood floor yikes.

Any suggestions?!?!

It is 1' x 6'

Thank you!

Nice eh? Not.

Looks like the kitchen floor has been glued down and the gap is even to the hard wood? If you are not going to replace your kitchen flooring anytime soon you could try painting a stencil that would match either the wood or the kitchen floor then put a transition strip where they meet.

If you paint first fill any gaps or seams that cause an uneven finish. Make it as smooth as possible and try to match the kitchen colors and have some fun with a stencil. Green and yellows in a tile stile. Love to see if that works.

Hi Tamara this is difficult but if you can take the same flooring from closets then it can be matched but it might be worth the $$ to have it done professionally I would of course get a second estimate.

Good idea getting wood from closest. Have a a couple closets, one you have reach deep back into!. Guess we will keep covered until we can spring for a pro/professional to help!

      Thank you.

The bad thing is that the hole is running across the grain so it will be hard to fix so it won’t stand out. Sorry to say, but the floor place is your best option.

Be careful not to stab your bare foot on the end of the metal strip. That would hurt. Good luck with your floor. Might just have to bite the bullet and do the two rooms at the same time since it appears that they will have the same flooring.
