Driftwood Vanity Desk Makeover

I found this vanity over the summer for a steal of a deal. Since it’s headed to the market, I wanted to take this one up a notch and do something a little different than usual.
Overall it was in good shape. The laminate was applied really well, no lifting, so I decided to paint over it. YES, you can paint over laminate. I have a tutorial on my website showing you how.
I scuff sanded the laminate really well with my pad sander. Cleaned it off and it was ready for paint!
I painted the case gray. The milk paint has amazing coverage. I didn’t want it to be just gray, so I added a white glaze to give a more washed driftwood look.
I applied it with a brush and then immediately wiped it back with a rag.

I then sanded back the drawers to raw wood so the grain would pop and gave them a light coat of an oak stain. I sealed them with a topcoat in a flat finish.
I love the contrast this vanity/desk has. It would be the perfect small desk or vanity and the color combo is neutral enough it could be used just about anywhere. The hardware was all there, so it just got cleaned up and put back on.
