You can use a large garden flower container with a drain hole if you caulk the hole closed. We use a large foam based pot that looks like a beautiful ceramic glaze, but weighs a lot less and was a fraction of the price (Lowes) We do use a small pump fountain so the birds can shower and it keeps the water moving so skeeters will be less. We splash the fountain water on a platform that holds chunks of gorgeous petrified wood. That gives birds, butterflies and the occasional animal or frog a place to sit.
The **Horse tail** plant is also gorgeous in these or a damp spot in your garden, buy them via mail.
