I've had sap on the front hood of my car and it's a timely process to get it off. I used boiling hot water to make the sap become more liquid and a soft side of a sponge. I soaked the sponge in the hot water and left it on top of the spot with the sap. Then I'd wait about a minute or two and pour more boiling water on top of the sponge and try to scrub it off with the soft side of the sponge. You might want to wear some protective gloves so your hands don't get burned by the hot water. I'm sure there are other methods but this one was safe for my paint and the quickest fix I could find. I know there's also a product called "Goo be Gone" that has been used to get sap off of cars but I don't know if I trust it with the paint.

  • To remove tree sap from your car. start by spraying your car with clean water, which will wash off any large pieces of sap. Then, scrub the remaining sap off using a rag and hot, soapy water. If the sap still won't come off, try rubbing it off with mineral spirits, WD-40, or hand sanitizer.

Hot soapy water will not remove tree sap. My brother's drive is lined with pine trees and he swears by lighter fluid. And yes he is very particular about his truck and no it has not harmed the finish.
