Can I rejoin the wire on my electric garden lights

I accidentlycut my string of garden lights , the wire is very thin can I rejoin it ? They are very long !

    Hello Helen, If you have no experience with electrics, it might be better and safer to ask a qualified electrician to do it for you!

    I've done this myself including cutting the extension cord on an electric hedge trimmer while trimming! :-( Anyway....obviously disconnect the power source first. I say this because I have seen people, including my husband, try to repair something while still plugged in. Carefully peel back the sheathing, usually a rubber coating, that covers the wire on both cut ends. Not sure what you will find inside but if it is just one copper wire, twist them together and then wrap electrical tape around all exposed areas of the wire. If there are individual wires inside, you will need to peel back some covering on each one and connect like wires together (black to black, white to white, etc.) and again, cover all exposed wires with electrical tape. Turn the power source back on. Should work. Good luck! If this doesn't work, take a pic of the wires and go ask a knowledgeable person in the electrical dept. of Lowes or Home Depot. May be able to help.
