How do you cute back a hebe shrub and when?

  • The best time to prune is after flowering. If the plant needs to be renovated, or severely reduced, this can be done late winter and early spring just before growth begins. Remove old flowers (deadhead) and cut back to healthy outward facing buds. Remove damaged, diseased, old wood and straggly growth.

    You should prune or deadhead after the plants have flowered and before the first frost. The further you cut back the bushier it will be next spring.

    Hi Mar,

    According to this article, hebess should be pruned after winter, just before new growth begins. They should also be deadheaded after flowering. Check out this website to add to your knowledge.
