Determined the area to occupy, which was a friend’s snall patio.. I had leftover materials from my deck, and used them up, little scrap left behind...$
Suggested materials:
  • Pressure treated deck boards timber, and used pallets   (Around the house)
  • Pressure treated deck boards and land scape timber

    While this is fine for flowers, don't use pressure treated wood and pallets for edible plants/veggies as they can contaminate the soil.

      There are different varieties of how pallet wood is treated. Look for the code stamped on the pallet and then google. As pallets are meant to be reused by shipping companies, nearly all are treated to prevent rot and insect damage -- which can seep into the soil. It just depends on what they are treated with. If you had some sort of non-porous barrier between the soil and the wood like plastic (not ground cloth which is porous), that could work as long as there are drainage holes in the bottom.

      I think if you had a large plastic tub, built this around it and added drainage holes in the bottom, it would work too.
