Patriotic USA String Art
Recently we were challenged to come up with a project that was patriotic, perfect for the 4th of July holiday coming up, and could not include anything red, white or blue. Our first instincts were to use metallics as our pop of color, and here's what we came up with!
First things first, we gathered all of our materials. Three pieces of scrap wood, stain, tools, string & ribbon (not pictured)
We gave the wood pieces a coat of stain and poly and let them dry overnight.
Next up we took our small brad/picture hanging nails and created the letters U, S & A. I'm not the best at free handing fonts, so printing and cutting out some simple block letters to use as a guide worked perfectly.
We used our three colors of embroidery thread, bronze, silver & gold, and wrapped them randomly around the nails. All three pieces were put together with screw eyes and S-hooks and tied up with a ribbon. And with that our non-red, white or blue patriotic project was complete! Head on over to our blog for all of the details : )
