I am SO loving wood planked walls right now! A couple of months ago, I put up a weathered grey wood plank wall in my laundry room as part of my laundry room mini-makeover. I really liked how that wall turned out, so, I decided to do another wall in my home. This time, I chose my family room as the recipient of a beautiful planked wall.
Here are the abbreviated instructions for installing a wood plank wall. For full details, please see the link to my blog post and the bottom of the page.

First, remove the baseboards and all outlet and light switch cover plates.
Next paint the wall a color similar to the wood planks.

Once the paint has dried, mark the location of the studs in the wall.
Start placing the boards on the wall in the lower left or lower right corner of the wall. Keep moving up the wall until you reach the ceiling, making sure the boards are level.
In this room, unlike my laundry room, we have a vaulted ceiling. So, I had to cut angles on sections of the boards in the top row. To help me, I used an angle ruler.
Once the top row was completed, I added a "frame" around the edges of the wall.
I'm loving my new rustic chic wall!
