Turn a Old Basket Into a Basket Full of Succulents

by Kristin
I found a old basket in the garage and decided to update it with some spray paint and succulents. Would make a perfect housewarming gift.
First I spray painted the basket with a a dark brown.
Next I cut some holes into the plastic so the soil can drain easily and lined the basket.
I filled it with dirt and began adding my succulents.
Next I arranged each of the succulents, making sure to add height in the back and have the overhanging succulents in the front.
So easy and pretty. The basket will most likely only last 2 years but you can just very easily transplant the succulents and start again.

I have a large basket and will put plants in it. I live in Southwest Florida. I also know from experience that basket will probably last a couple years. However, I will spray a sealant on the basket. Has anyone had good results with that?

Those are called portulaca or moss rose, easy to grow from seed.
