How to cover Torginol?

My home is the one I grew up in. My dad redid the bathroom and kitchen floor with a “new” product Torginol. The bath is done with flakes of blues white and gold (ugh Mom). It actually covers 2/3rd the bathroom walls and shower walls. The kitchen is the typical white, beige, tan and gold. It has a “dimpled” texture to boot.

Is there a product that will stick and allow me to paint /cover it.

  • I think they Make a couple products, is it more like concrete or epoxy? I'm thinking concrete because of the dimpled texture?

The process was three steps. They laid a clear base coat then “blew” the colored chips or “corn flakes “ as we called them all over and the final step was multiple layers of clear sealer. That’s where the “dimple” texture came from. But like most things over the years the clear coat has yellowed. I’d like to paint it white but just have no clue what will stick.

Hi, Use ESP -A primer that covers any surface so you can repaint. Good luck!

Thank you, is it an epoxy or more of a primer? Can I get it at Paint store like Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore?

Hello! I have the same countertops that I’m looking to paint. Did you end up doing this? If so, how is it holding up?

Hello again, It is a Primer - Easy Surface Primer (ESP) I live in Uk so don't know where it is sold if you live elsewhere, but enquire at your large DIY Store, they are sure to be able to help.

  • That stuff is epoxy. You can remove it with acetone
