If you are looking for a high-quality furniture paint, definitely consider using milk paint. Not only is milk paint non-toxic, baby-safe, and contains zero VOCs, but it gives a gorgeous finish that makes your furniture look like it was store-bought. I've used a lot of different types of paint on furniture, and I have to say that milk paint is hands down the best I've used.

Milk paint is SO often used to refinish furniture, that it is often forgotten that it can be used directly on raw wood.
With milk paint, you have to mix your own paint from a powder. This seems like an extra step but it's actually better because you can make your own colors, and of course because you are working with a non-toxic, safe material.
You pour equal parts of the powder and water together and then mix.
Make sure your wood is nice and clean - and then give it a first coat using an angled brush. This coat is more about coverage, so make sure to get every little nook and cranny.
Give second, third (and maybe even fourth) coats if necessary. You decide when you are happy with the way it looks. Make sure to focus on giving a very even coat, without any drips. Stir your paint frequently. If it gets too thick or hard to apply, then add a little more water and stir.
You have the option of sealing it when you are done. But it doesn't need a sealer unless it's an area prone to spills.

By clean do you mean raw wood? Can it be used over painted wood?

I see, following your link, that there are several other colors available, as well! Here's my question, and it may be a silly one...Is there any odor from the milk? Does it go sour?

How durable will this finish be?
