Hi Hometalkers!!! I saw one of these in a high-end store that was way out of my price range so I decided to make my own!
I first started in the material department of Walmart. Waverly has some amazing material quarters for $0.97 in a variety of colors and patterns.
I chose beautiful teal material and gray anchors for my project.
While they did have a variety of metal wreath forms at Walmart I found the best value at Dollar Tree. If you do decide to go for a bigger wreath make sure you adjust the amount of material you are going to use.
Gather your rings your material and a sharp scissor.
You are going to take the material and open it but then fold it over. You then start cutting long strips but not all the way to the bottom. You'll see why in The Next Step.
I don't like to cut the material all the way down because I like to rip the strips to give it a fringed to look. This part is tedious but also kind of fun. It's best if you cut up all of your material at one time. It saves a bunch of time and you can get your project done quicker.
Here's what some of my strips look like after I ripped them.
Here is where the fun begins. You begin to tie all of the strips that you just cut just like pictured above. Keep going all the way around the ring and then move on to the next one until the entire wreath is full.
Here's what the wreath looked like when I finish tying on all of the material. Now to add a few Embellishments.
I picked up this wooden anchor at Michael's using my 40% off coupon.
I chose to paint the anchor in the color Acapulco by Apple Barrel. It is such a beautiful tropical color and it was perfect for what I was looking for. Plus it only cost $0.97 and dries within a few minutes.
Once painted I attached the anchor to the wreath with glue. I then had a starfish laying around so I attach that to the Anchor as well just for a little extra pizzazz. I made sure that I let it dry overnight.
I couldn't be more happy with the end result! It is absolutely gorgeous. I'm just thinking about the possibilities for making a Christmas wreath, Valentine's Day wreath. Or anything I can think of. Thank you for checking out my project. I hope you enjoyed it. Happy crafting!
