    Hi Mag,

A Lucifer plant is also known as a Crocosmia plant. Here's an article about how to care for it. Wishing you the best - Linda

Usually you wait until the leaves die back naturally then cut them off. The cycle for most plants is, energy into growing first, energy to procreate or flowers, energy into seed growth if they aren't cut off, then energy into the corm, in this case, to prepare for next year. The leaves are gathering sunlight and some rain water while the roots are diligently at work too to get the corm back in shape. Cutting off the leaves before they die back removes part of the team.

If you ever go to a bulb nursery the growers cut the flowers off right after they bloom. They want all the plants energy to go into bulb growth so they eliminate the flower maturing and possible seed nurturing time too. Corms are kind of like bulbs.

I never cut mine, I just let it die back
