DIY DISH RACK

Its that time again .. where I start nesting and re-organising the house (no I'm not pregnant.. before you ask!).

I think it has something to do with the change in seasons. Hence the de-cluttering and cleaning frenzy.. Starting with my kitchen

I don't have much kitchen cupboard storage space so I decided to maximize the space a little by building this diy dish rack from wooden dowels. You can see more of my kitchen organisation dowel ideas here

MATERIALS USED:

  • 4 x Wooden dowels 3/8″ x 36 “
  • 1 x plywood sheet 1/2 x 12 x 12 “
  • Drill
  • 3/8″ Hole cutter drill bit
  • Manual Saw
  • Hammer
  • Wood glue
  • Sander
  • Clamps (optional)

HOW TO:

Using a ruler, measure and mark 4 equal sized strips from the plywood sheet. Cut with your saw (or jigsaw if you have one).
You should end up with 4 equal sized peices. Sand them all
Then glue them two together with wood glue and leave to dry
Next you need to cut your dowels to size. You can use a manual saw to do this.

On your plywood, measure and mark where you would like the dowels to go
Then using a hole saw bit and drill directly through each of the points you have already marked on the plywood strip.

Once complete, you can start hammering in the dowel rods
And Voila!!

What do you think??

I also have another quick kitchen organisation project for kitchen utensils - which you can see here

Did you skip a step or did you not join the two rectangular pieces together somehow? The picture seems to show something beneath the plates.
