How would you make a chandelier out of sea glass?

I collect sea glass of various shapes and sizes but all quite small. I would like to make a chandelier as I think light shining through the sand-blasted glass would be very pretty but I don't know how to neatly join the glass to strings or wires so that the light can shine through. is there a way to drill a small hole without breaking the glass? Open to ideas. Thanks, Kate.

Hi, I like what you are thinking about doing! I lOVE working with glass! I do believe that you can get a diamond drill-bit that could make a hole in the glass. However, oftentimes like cutting tile and grinding glass down, there needs to be water involved with a coolant to keep the bit from dulling. My husband does have a diamond drill bit that he says works without water, so that may be something to look into. However, the hole would have to be very tiny which can be very difficult with glass. Glass can break very easily too trying to get a hole through. The way I would do it is glueing on a jewelry attachment that you can string the wire through. Use a VERY strong glue like JB weld or super glue or any glue for glass. Another way which would be more involved is to put a copper tape around each piece of sea glass. Rub the sides down with a piece of wood so the adhesive is on and the tape won't be coming off. Solder the edges with lead or lead- free solder. You will have to use flux. Use a mask. Then attach the jewelry attachment to the soldered edge!!! That attachment won't be going anywhere. With this method there will be a metal edge around each piece of glass though. This is a method I use when I'm doing stained glass. I hope this helped! Good Luck! :). Let me know, I would love to hear!
Maybe go to dollar tree get a metel trash can use for light hang glass from it
Maybe try gluing , ( using a clear glue ) to a glass hurricane lamp , or a jar , then place a candle in the jar of under the glass. You might want to try this before going through the effort of making a chandelier. Although I always jump right in and try the hardest project , lol...
I love your idea , but I don't know how well the light will shine through the glass .
