Refinishing a table top with resin streaks... or acrylic?

fill with wood putty - sand smooth -revarnish -or stain- to match -- sanding carefully/gently between coats-- feather off into surrounding surface ... voila-- no more gauges. Unless you are already skilled using a router-- let a professional do that-- to ???reshape???? the table ... very questionable on your intent.

Thanks Lar.... It's an old, antique oriental style table with lots of character. The finish is not that of a polished professional but rather that of local artist, artisans I guess. I can send pictures if that would help, indicating what I'd like to do using acrylic streaks.... Nothing about the table is perfect, which is why I think a non-professional approach such as my own would fit, even if I screwed up a little here and there.... ?

Sounds like a clever idea, routing out shapes and filling them in with resin, yes? I'd draw up a design or figure out the plan then test on sample pieces of wood to make sure you're getting what you want. Then fill with the resin.

I would probably use a colored epoxy to fill your routed design, maybe putting in one of those ketchup dispenser bottles with the squeeze nozzle. Then when its dry, put a clean top coat of the epoxy resin on top.
