  • Great question! But no, there is no way of telling if he or she has used up its allotment before its body produces more.

I went camping last week and we had some skunk visitors two nights in a row so I lured them away with dog kibble. Worked like a charm. The following night was a family of 4 raccoons. Did the same with them.

When I walk my dogs at night I always carry a flashlight, just about every wild animal does not like the light and will run off. That is your best defense and just make note of what direction they went and give them a wide berth.

There is no way. Suggest if you know they are around at night, if you have to be out too that you carry an LED-type fllash-light and use it to "fan" the area quite a ways ahead of you so you do not startle the skunk(s) by approaching too quickly.

And skunks have a fast recovery, if you are worried about how long you are safe. They are wild animals and they get and spread rabies easily. Lure them or avoid them, but stay alert. Be careful, Jlo! ☺️
