I'm having the same problem. HAHA! Is it storage or a finished area?

I would start by making piles - keep, donate, and trash. Once you have those piles sorted you can do donate and trash your 2 piles. The 3rd pile you can decide if things fit into stack able containers, and build some shelving to put those on. Be sure to label them so it makes sense to you. If you want more help and support - reach out to Hometalk. I'd be happy to help you more and they have a program that helps put Hometalker's together to do things like this.

Start checking Lowe's and Home Depot for their daily deal. They put shelving and organizational items for sale on a regular basis.

Chas has excellent suggestions on how to begin. If you are on facebook (who isn't?), there is a great group called Organizing Love that you might consider joining. Lots of great posts.

I find shelving ( wooden home made or purchased) and labeled plastic totes very yelpful with organizing storage.

  • Finished? Unfinished? Just storage? Or are there rooms and you need to stack and sort?

I have tubs of decorations. In process of looking for shelving that is reasonably priced. Also need to organize wrapping paper, bows and empty boxes.

I bought the large pine shelves from Ikea. You put them together yourself and they hold those clear plastic bins perfectly. I hung an old white sheet from the front like curtains and everything is hidden.
