I loved the look of those wooden signs at the big box decor stores, but I hate those prices!! So i set of to make one of my own in the colors I love for fall - orange, grey, and gold!
I started off with a bit of left over pine wood, same stuff you get from the big box home stores, a cute stencil, some gold paste, and felt - and why not throw in some burlap and twine for that autumn vibe.
Check out the video for step by step details on how to make this sign.
I added a little spray mist to color the wood to make it a bit darker to mimic a more expensive wood like walnut. If you do not have mists, you can always use a little watered down acrylic paint, it will not have the shimmer in it - or leave it plain :) I then added the stencil design to the wood and I did it in a pretty gold thick paste.
The sign looked a bit plain, so I made some felt spiral flowers and added them to the corner. These flowers are so easy to make and they really do spruce of the sign, and that little but of burlap added in the back as the leaves just make this sign pop for autumn.
I added an orange rope to the back to hold the sign up, I debated using a natural color, but orange own in the end. I use a staple gun to secure the rope and it holds up great!
So now you can make your own wooden sign in any color you want with any stencil design you like, just pick out one you love :) Pop on over to my  BLOG for a few extra tips and additional pictures about this project pink princess party!
