How do you repair a sink sprayer?

I recently moved in to a rental home and the sink faucet and sprayer are nice (rubbed bronze appearance) Not sure of the brand but the sprayer when engaged does not spray, the button freezes stuck and the faucet will not put out water. Eventually it will finally disengage (several seconds later) and the sink will start again. I attempted to check for clogs but I have had no luck troubleshooting this issue as I have not encountered it before. Any ideas? I don't want to buy a new faucet sprayer, I doubt you can buy the new spray nozzle to match by itself (if that is even the problem)

    Hi Har,

If the sprayer is separate from the faucet, you should be able to either repair or replace it. If you have to replace, ask the rental owner to pay for it. S/he might even pay to have it done. After all, it's their property and they should keep things in working order. If not, check out this article to see if you can figure out the problem. It might not be that expensive. Wishing you the best.

Hi. Since this is a rental, contact the owner. Best to let the person who owns it repair it. Even if it's broken now, if you replace and it still doesn't work right, the owner may blame you. What you don't own, don't mess with.

try soaking the sprayer in vinegar overnight or longer while waiting for landlord to fix. It may have calcium buildup.

if it doesn't spray at all then the "plunger" that opens and closes with the sprayer is shot. Turn the water off under the sink ... They are not that hard to change if it is, the bottom of the sprayer should have a threaded joint like an inch up, twist that loose and push it down onto the hose, you will see a little wire clip around the hose where it joins, you can pull that off and the whole sprayer will come off you can take it apart and see if there is something simple to repair or clean. A new one comes with that little wire clip to hold it on and a cheap one is about $6-7 they do sell fancier ones too, brass, nickle brushed etc. Sometimes you can take them apart and it will be obvious whats wrong, be sure and put it back together the right way lol Believe me I have done it a couple times...I used to caretake apartments

Since you are renting, this problem is not yours, it is the Landlord's. Give them a call and tell them you need service so it works properly.
