Quick and Easy Buffalo Check Tile Coasters

Two years later, and I'm still working my way through a stack of ceramic tiles I found in our garden shed, left behind by the previous owners.

After a few longer projects, I decided it was time for a quick one!
Not only was is this an easy project, but it's also light on supplies. All you'll need are:
  • 4" ceramic tiles
  • buffalo check material, cut to fit squares
  • decoupage medium
  • cork coaster squares
  • application brush (I love and recommend sponge brushes)
  • hot glue
Start by spreading a thin and even layer of decoupage medium over the top of the tile.

Less is best.

Lay the fabric on top of the tile and spread it smooth.

Since you used a thin layer of medium, it won't take long to dry, then you can brush a second coating over the top. Make sure you go over the edges and along the narrow sides too to seal it well.
After it fully dries, turn the tile over and hot glue the cork square onto the back. I found these at Hobby Lobby in a 6- pack, so you have to make at least 6, right? icon

You probably already know buffalo check comes in several different colors. We've been talking about buffalo check all week long in The Creative's Corner, and I even saw a green version this week! It's quite pretty too.

I'm partial to pink, but you can make these in any color you like best - or several colors!

They make a really nice and cute gift, so here's a holiday tip for you: go ahead and make up a bunch, tie them with a pretty ribbon, add a gift tag, then set them aside until the Christmas season arrives. You'll be all set!
