first step is to find out if your marble is sealed or not. If it is not you should dry it when you get out and leave it open to air out. You can buy sealer and it should be reapplied about once per year. You can then use a gentle cleaner. I clean homes for a living. I have a lady with cultured marble counters. The installers recommended scrubbing bubbles. You can contact the manufacturers for recommendations.

DO NOT USE VINEGAR OR ANYTHING ACIDIC ON MARBLE! It will etch the marble. http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Marble ***** http://www.countertopspecialty.com/marble-cle... ***** http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/50954561/list/... *****

Marble is basically compressed limestone. Any acidic cleaners will etch, dull and stain the surface, including vinegar, citrus cleaners, lime/calcium cleaners, and bleach.

Clean and brighten your grout with this easy homemade grout cleaner. Simply mix baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a runny paste and scrub with a toothbrush. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes and then rinse it off.

If you are trying to remove an old stain, create a dense paste of more baking soda and less water. Then place the paste over the stain, allowing it to function for a few minutes. After that wipe off the baking soda paste. If it is needed you can repeat the procedure until the stain vanishes.

If the stain is persistent and is still there you can try removing it with ammonia solution. Make the area of the stain damp with 10% ammonia, diluted in water. Ammonia is knows as a base solution, so it is suitable for removing stains from marble.

The final stage of the stain removal us rinsing. Rinse the solution from your marble well to eliminate any residue, left from the cleaning ingredients on it.

I advise to use gloves when removing the stain with ammonia. They will protect your hands. Ventilate the room, in which you use ammonia for removing stains, because it is toxic.

Use the Easy Off Fume-Free Oven Cleaner in the blue can only and a magic eraser to get the soap and body oil build-up off..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L10jCtHCcmY and open the window. Wear rubber gloves.

  • Mix 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide or chlorine bleach with 1 gallon of warm water in a bucket.

Put on a pair of rubber gloves, and apply the cleaning solution to the marble shower with a sponge or cloth. Saturate any moldy areas thoroughly; allow the solution to sit for at least 10 minutes.

Wipe the marble shower clean with the sponge or cloth, rinsing it in the bucket as you clean.

Rinse the marble shower thoroughly with the shower head. You can also fill the bucket with clean water and pour it over the shower to rinse.

Dry the marble with a towel.

I use to use Tilex Spray and do not rinse. This worked for mold between the tiles.

  • Real marble needs to be sealed and resealed every year. As far as the cleaning... using a shower squeegee to scrape down all the water after every single shower will help to maintain a clean shower. I opted to not use real marble, but instead marble look alike in ceramic tile because of the sealing issue. There are some really good faux marble tiles out there.

    Step 1

Pour three parts water and one part vinegar into a spray bottle.White vinegar will disinfect and break apart the calcium deposits without harming the marble surface.

    Step 2

Add a tbsp. of liquid dish detergent to the solution; this will also help cut through the calcium and leave behind a streak-free shine.

    Step 3

Twist the cap onto the bottle, and shake gently to combine all ingredients.

    Step 4

Spray the solution directly onto the areas affected by the deposits, and scrub with a sponge. Repeat as needed until all signs of the calcium deposits are gone.

    Step 5

Use the spray weekly as a maintenance treatment, which will keep the shower clean and free of calcium.

According to the "marble people", avoid ammonia and vinegar. If either of these have been used in the past it could be part of your issue. Hydrogen Peroxide is safe - 1 cup to a gallon. For my marble tub, I use Lysol Power Scum cleaner in the blue trigger spray bottle with a magic eraser. No build up, no etching, and I've used for over 20 years with no issues.

  • Acids will eat through the factory finish and will cost a fortune to have repaired.

    See if this helps.
