How do I repair ceramic tile?

I have several cracked and chipped tiles that I am interested in repairing. This tile covers my entire downstairs and would be too costly to replace. No luck in matching the tile either. Please help!
Replace the broken ones and add a few others in multiple colors so that the randomness looks intentional.
These can be corrected so they do not show. It only works on a glazed type tile though. Find a nail polish similar in color or blend two colors to get the light beige look you have (white with a light tan maybe). After you find the color, put some in the crack, let it dry, then using a little polish remover on a make up pad, wipe the polished line across the line, vertically, do it lightly until the line does not show. It will cover it nicely! It takes a little practice but is not that difficult. For the chips, fill them with wood filler and let it dry, then polish over it and apply the polish remover the same way to blend the colors. You will not know it has been done unless you know exactly where to look for the crack, it will disappear to most peoples' eyes! Hope this helps
How to Repair Holes or Cracks in Ceramic Tile
Patching unwanted holes in glazed tile like this can be a tricky proposition. Here's a solution that may not always be perfect, but will make a big improvement. Polyester resin (Bondo) or auto body filler, often used to repair car bodies. Mix up a small batch by adding some hardener and stirring it thoroughly. Using a putty knife, press the resin into the hole slightly overfilling it. Then just as the material begins to harden while it's somewhat rubbery, trim off the excess with a razor blade.
Next use 600 grit sandpaper to sand the filler smooth. Wetting the paper with water makes it work best. Now it's time to try and match the color of the tile. A porcelain touch up kit which is available at most home improvement centers comes with several different colors of paint. You can also use artists acrylic paints available from Michaels, Hobby Lobby, art supply stores, and online.
The trick here is to mix these different colors together until we come up with one that matches the tile. Apply the paint with a small brush. You can test it on a nearby tile. When you get it the way you want it, then just paint over the patch and let that dry. Give it one final sanding with that very fine sandpaper and you'll have, well, maybe not a perfect match, but something that's a heck of a lot better than what you started with.
I repaired 3 or 4 in my old house, but once I had to repair the repair I knew it was time to do it right. I took up 8 out of 30 tiles that were damaged, and managed to get another 6 or 7 loose in the process. A trip to lowes and $30 later I had similar tiles. The lack of perfect match was actually decorative, and I was pleased with the permanent results.
