Look up the recipe for self hardening clay. Very easy to make and when dry it can be painted or use Crayola markers. Kids are very creative with the clay. Just put down a plastic tarp for the kids to work on.

Last year my grandkids (3 & 6) made a few crafts that turned out great. I bought styrofoam pumpkins at the dollar store along with a package of fake leaves. We picked up some pine cones and acorns at a local park to add finishing touches. With the styrofoam pumpkins, I had them draw the face with markers that we already had, then we used Elmer's glue to dress up the area around the stems with leaves, acorns & small pine cones. In another version, I cut off the top for them and we put a solar light in there to use outside. They would light up at night. Those were also decorated around the top with fall leaves and acorns.

We also made a fall wreath, where they took turns learning how to poke a hole in a styrofoam ring, using a low heat glue gun (under strict supervision), then they put a fall flower in each hole. They also added pine cones and acorns to that. Instead of using a bow, I had them cut streamers of fall ribbon that was glued on the back so that it hung down from the wreath.

The last one we did last year was napkin ring. I got some plastic shower curtain rings from the dollar store and some fall flowers. They learned how to cut the flower off the stem and glue 2 flowers next to each other on the ring. Those were very easy and were used for napkins at our table giving it a festive fall decor.

How great. We always had a great time doing crafts together when my kids were smaller. Try making ghosts. Use white plastic bags, roll up newspaper into a ball and shove into the top of the bag for the head. Tie off (we used bread ties) at the neck. Draw eyes and a mouth on the face. Now they are ready to hang. If you are using walmart bags or others that have writing, turn them inside out. You'll be surprised how it disappears.
